A little bit
of:
Mystery of the
Burnt Cottage. The Famous Five.
(From the original text)
It was at half past nine
on a dark April night that all the excitement began.
The village of Peterswood was perfectly quiet and peaceful, except for a dog barking somewhere. Larry Daykin
was just getting into bed when he saw it. He had pulled back his curtains so
that ¨Golly! What´s that!¨ he said. He called to his sister. ¨Daisy!¨I say ,I
wonder that it is. Come here and look. Then his siter came into the bedroom
in her nightdress. She looked out of the window.¨It´s a fire!¨ he said. ¨It
looks pretty big, doesn´t it? Do you think it ¨We´d better go and see, ¨said
Larry, excited. ¨Let´s get dressed again. Mummy and Daddy are out. Larry and
Daisy dressed quickly, and then ran down the stairs and out into the dark
garden. As ¨It´s Pip, I bet, ¨said Larry, and shone his torch up the drive.
